Thrive retreats are for American and Canadian women who live and work cross-culturally. Retreat attendees must currently be full time, support based, cross-cultural workers living overseas (or in your first two years since coming off the field).

Because our goal is to provide a time of rest and encouragement for every woman who attends, we are unable to accommodate babies or additional family members at Thrive retreats. We have found that mothers have a more difficult time truly connecting or relaxing at Thrive retreats when they are attending to their babies’ needs.

We also aim to be sensitive to other attendees’ experiences through this policy, considering sleeping accommodations, as well as meetingtimes.

In 2019, we announced a new ‘Come Again’ policy. If it has been five years or more since your Thrive retreat experience, we would love for you to join us again! A wait list is available for more recent repeat attendees.

On our first day of the retreat, check-in (including sign up for your self-care appointments) will begin at 1:30 p.m. with our first meeting at 3:30 p.m. We will conclude at 1:30 p.m. on the final day of the retreat. As you are arranging your flights or travel plans, please do your best to join us for the entire retreat.

Upon approval, you will be sent a confirmation email with further details, followed by several additional emails from us before the retreat with important information about the event. Please check your inbox frequently during this time to ensure you are fully informed. We want you to feel prepared and able to look forward to the retreat with excitement!

A $250 USD registration fee will be required to officially hold your spot. Please submit this fee during your registration or within 15 days of acceptance to reserve your space at the retreat. Please remember that the registration fee must be paid in U.S. dollars and is non-refundable.

We would like to contact your key supporting churches to let them know about your upcoming retreat experience. We will also introduce them to Thrive’s resources to support and encourage cross-cultural workers like yourself.

We will also invite your supporting churches to pray for you while you attend the Thrive retreat, and to financially partner with Thrive to provide this time of refreshment for you. We trust in the Lord’s provision as we continually seek full funding for each attendee. Our experience shows that local churches are often looking for unique ways to provide practical love and support for their workers. You can rest assured we will honor your financial relationship with them. They are under no obligation.

It is VERY common for our retreats to fill up before the registration deadline. Therefore, once you have been accepted into the retreat, your registration fee is due within 15 days. Should you need to cancel, out of consideration for those on the waiting list and for the donors who have provided this gift, please notify us of your cancellation as soon as possible. This will allow time to notify the next woman on the waiting list of the opening, so she can make travel arrangements to join us. You may not transfer your reservation to a friend, since preference will be given to women on the waiting list.

Our contracts with the retreat facilities require that we pay retreat costs based on a number of guests guaranteed before our arrival. Please help us be good stewards of the financial gifts given to provide this unique time of encouragement for you and our Thrive family!
